Frequently asked questions

What is it?

Simply put, Colonic Hydrotherapy (a.k.a. Colonic Irrigation) involves warm water being pushed very gently around the bowel to cleanse the colon and improve its function.

Is it painful?

No. It may feel a little uncomfortable at first. The strongest sensation you will experience is a gentle build up of pressure which is then released.

Is it messy or embarrassing?

Your dignity is of paramount importance. All the waste which is released remains enclosed within the pipe, and is transferred directly into the toilet waste pipe without any contact with the environment. There is no smell involved, the process is completely hygienic and you will remain covered at all times.

Is it suitable for everybody?

It is of great benefit to most people, but I will carry out a detailed interview and pre-examination to discuss contra-indications such as heart problems, blood-pressure problems, severe haemorrhoids, colo-rectal cancer or pregnancy. I spend a great deal of time before the first treatment session making sure the treatment is suitable.

What if I have bowel problems?

Then Colonic Hydrotherapy may be just what you need. Excellent results have been obtained in cases of severe constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, candidaisis, ME and general toxicity, and other conditions.

If it’s so good, why don’t hospitals use it?

The technique was commonly used in hospitals up until the second world war, and has a history going back to the ancient civilizations of India, Greece and Egypt.

Is it safe?

Yes. Cally is a member of The Guild of Colonic Hydrotherapists, who insist on the strictest standards of hygiene, and who are free to carry out spot checks of members’ clinics. The equipment used ensures that the water pressure used by the therapist can never exceed the very low pressure of 2 psi.
